![]() ![]() You do know that his range is wide open, so your range has a much higher percentage of aces in it. If you think about your range, you have a TON of big aces in it, and just because that is a scary card for you, your opponent doesn't know that. Second, I would think about, and would love other's thoughts, on firing a second barrel on the turn here. If this guy is a maniac, don't we think a flop check would automatically induce a big bet from V on the turn no matter what hits? Granted, in this instance the A came, so you probably save yourself some money making either a correct or incorrect laydown if you check flop when they fire, but what if the turn comes a 2 or something else below a K that doesn't bring in the front door straight? You're then likely facing a bet from an opponent with a huge range and then you need to decide whether or not to call, and you haven't given yourself a chance to win this pot on the flop.Īgainst a non-maniac player, I do like mixing in the check and delayed continuation bet here as this flop shouldn't hit either of you, but with 88-JJ, I'd pry 50/50 it between that and the flop bet, against tighter players I'd fire on the flop 100% of the time. First off, why do you think the flop bet was a mistake? I'm going to assume you think you should've checked here and it's not a sizing question for the sake of argument, if you thought your sizing was too small ignore the next bit. ![]()
